Discovering God’s purpose for mankind through Scripture
God’s will for humanity is for people to know Him and have a personal relationship with Him. Through faith, individuals can understand who God is and His purpose for their lives.
"Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent." – John 17:3 (NIV)
God’s will for humanity is to believe in His Son, Jesus Christ, who was sent to save the world from sin. Faith in Jesus leads to eternal life and reconciliation with God.
"For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day." – John 6:40 (NIV)
God’s will is for humanity to love Him wholeheartedly and to love others as themselves. This is the foundation of all of God's commands.
"‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’" – Matthew 22:37-39 (NIV)
God calls humanity to live in holiness and righteousness, avoiding sin and striving to live according to His ways.
"It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality." – 1 Thessalonians 4:3 (NIV)
God desires that people act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with Him. Justice and mercy are key parts of God's will for how humanity should treat one another.
"He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." – Micah 6:8 (NIV)
It is God’s will for His followers to spread the message of salvation through Jesus Christ to all nations, sharing the hope and love of the gospel with others.
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." – Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)
God’s will for humanity includes stewardship of the earth. People are called to responsibly manage the natural world as part of God's creation.
"The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it." – Genesis 2:15 (NIV)
God desires that humanity cultivates a spirit of gratitude and thankfulness in all circumstances, acknowledging His goodness and grace.
"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." – 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NIV)
